MOTHER HORROR When I woke up, my daughter was dead next to me.
One mother described the terrible feeling she felt when she woke up to find her five-year-old daughter dead next to her.
On December 28, 2017, Lila’s mother, Rachael Marsland, discovered her daughter unconscious in bed with her.
Little Lila is believed to have been dead for several hours before they arrived, despite them calling 911 immediately.
She would have celebrated her sixth birthday in two weeks.
Rachael described the terrifying incident to the Manchester Evening News, saying: “I woke up and she was dead next to me.” When I called for help, she was already dead.
“They gave her CPR but by the time they got there, it was too late. It’s terrible. It still amazes me that this happened.
She was nice to everyone. She hugged every instructor when I dropped her off or picked her up from school. “She could be gone in thirty minutes,” I would say.
According to Rachael, Lila’s father Daz, 41, still doesn’t know how Lila died and is therefore unable to properly grieve their loss.
An in-depth hearing into Lila’s death is scheduled for November.
A month after her death, her family held a funeral ceremony that left many very sad. There were many individuals in the church.
Rachael recalled the event as a “perfect day” for her daughter as every friend from primary school was present.
Now the family has established Lila’s Light as a non-profit organization. Her goal is to make mourning bags for children who have lost a sibling.
The family’s goal, according to Rachael, is to “keep Lili’s name alive” and strive for “something good.”
The heartbreaking loss of five-year-old Lily has left her mother Rachael Marsland struggling with unimaginable grief. The tragic discovery of her daughter unconscious by her side has deeply affected the family, who are still searching for answers to Lila’s sudden death.
With the upcoming inquest, Rachael and Lili’s father Daz hope to understand what happened and allow them to begin to process their loss.
After this tragedy, Rachael decided to honor Lila’s memory by founding the non-profit organization Lila’s Light, which is dedicated to helping children who have experienced the loss of a sibling.
By creating the mourning bags, the family wants to provide support and comfort to others who are dealing with similar suffering. Rachael’s determination to keep Lily’s spirit alive through acts of kindness reflects a strong determination to turn their grief into something positive.
Lila’s legacy will continue to shine through the family’s efforts, providing comfort to the bereaved and ensuring that her memory remains a source of love and hope for others.
