Rob Hill, the Deputy Police Officer and commander of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Manitoba, confirmed the fatalities, stating, “At least 15 individuals were pronounced dead as a result of the collision.” An additional ten people are receiving medical treatment at the hospital. Both drivers survived the crash, but authorities have yet to determine who was at fault. Harrowing images from the scene showed destroyed wheelchairs and walkers near tarps covering the victims’ bodies. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau offered his condolences, expressing support for the injured and the families of those who lost loved ones.
